Election Inspector Information
Requirements for Election Inspectors:
An election inspector must be a registered voter in the State of Michigan.
Training and Assignment Information:
Before you are placed on an election board, it is necessary to complete election inspector training. Notification of training sessions will be mailed to you, along with your precinct assignment and response form. You will return your response form indicating if you will be accepting or declining your appointment.
Hours:
The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Election Inspectors start at 6:00 a.m. and stay until after the polls are closed and/or the last voter has cast their ballot and processing/cleanup is completed. All inspectors are required to stay and help in the processing/cleanup. The precinct chairperson will dismiss you.
You will receive lunch and/or dinner breaks. These are assigned by the precinct chairperson based on the needs of your precinct on Election Day.
Rate of Pay:
Chairperson – $18/hour
Inspector – $15/hour
Inspectors are paid a flat rate of $50 for required election inspector training.
