INCIDENT COMPLAINT: 18-001439

INCIDENT TYPE: Strong armed robbery

DATE OCCURRED: Thursday May3, 2018 TIME: 7:19 P.M.

LOCATION OCCURRED: 2600 Block E. Main St., Township of Kalamazoo

INCIDENT SUMMARY:

The Kalamazoo Township Police department was dispatched to the 2600 Block of E. Main St. around 7:30 P.M. on the report of a robbery. When officers arrived they found a 23 year old Portage resident had been the victim of a strong armed robbery. Officers believe the victim went to E. Main St. with the intent to sell a gaming system. The victim chased the suspects after the robbery and was able to recover the stolen property.

A Kalamazoo Township Fire Department Battalion Chief witnessed the incident and followed the suspects. With the assistance of the Battalion Chief and local residents’, officers were able to apprehend two suspects. One suspect was identified as a 16 year old male the other a 17 year old male both of which reside in Kalamazoo. The 16 year old male was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home and the 17 year old was lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail. Both subjects are facing charges of unarmed robbery. The victim received minor injuries and treated at the scene. The case has been forwarded to Kalamazoo County Prosecuting attorney’s office for review.

The 17 year old suspect in this incident has been identified as Zaquary Eral-Julius Hill 11-12-2000. Mr. Hill was arraigned in 8th District Court on 5-4-18. He was given a $10,000 cash bond and the case has been bound over to Circuit court.

INCIDENT TYPE: Threat to bomb     

 

 

DATE OCCURRED:  February 23, 2018

 

 

LOCATION OCCURRED:  Kalamazoo County Court House – Family Division 1536 Gull Rd.

 

   

INJURIES RECEIVED: None

 

 

INCIDENT SUMMARY:   On February 23, 2018 the Township of Kalamazoo Police Department was notified of a threat made against the Kalamazoo County Court House – Family Division on Gull Rd. in Kalamazoo Township.  While investigating the threat, officers determined there was probable cause to pursue a criminal case in the matter. The case was subsequently submitted for review to the Kalamazoo County Prosecutors Office. 

 

After reviewing the case, a charge of “threat of a bomb / harmful device” was authorized by the prosecutors office.  This charge is a felony, and is punishable by: up to 4 years and/or$2,000. 

 

On February 27, 2018, with the assistance of the Portage Department of Public Safety the suspect in this matter was located and arrested without incident.  He is scheduled for arraignment later today.
